Poseidon Paddle & Surf

We vacationed to Santa Monica this summer and booked a 2 hour “Santa Monica surf lesson” for July 9th at Poseidon Surf Shop near the pier. For a family of Far Eastern tourists who had never experienced surfing before, this was an exciting, enjoyable and fulfilling experience, especially under the full control of the instructor, everyone felt completely taken care of and safe. In addition, the location was right next to the pier, just a short walk from the nearby hotel, and there was a washing room in the surf shop, which was very convenient. We will always cherish this wonderful memory.

I had an amazing morning paddle boarding with the Poseidon Paddle & Surf team! The team consisted of owners Christian & Matt and instructor, Joe. I was part of a group lesson. Paddle boards and wet suits are supplied or you can bring your own. Whether you have some experience or are brand new to paddle boarding, the team at Poseidon helps you learn the basics as well as gives you insights into how to paddle best. They are with you all the way from getting on the board to journeying across the ocean and ultimately getting off your board safely once you get back to shore. It can be intimidating to paddle board but the team made me feel at ease and confident in my skills and were with me all the way. They are caring, warm, kind and extremely knowledgeable on their craft. This is such a fun activity you will love doing with Christian, Matt and Joe!

Fantastic surf experience! I was travelling from London and booked a surf lesson with Joe. He was a great teacher and I would really recommend booking a surf lesson with him.

We stopped in to look around and had a great connection with the owner and staff. Very friendly, very helpful!

Christian made us feel at home as soon as we arrived to shop. He was super nice and helpful. My boyfriend rented a soft board for 2 hrs and a wet suit. We were also able to purchase California style flip flops which gave my bf the whole Californian experience. Truly a pleasant experience. Ty !!

Just had a chia tea latte and it’s been one of the best I’ve had so far in LA. Definitely coming back before I leave, only crit is they could use sleeves for the cups. Update, went back for another and they do have sleeves!!! Still a 5 star 🥰

How much do I appreciate this surf shop? I cannot count the ways! As a resident of Santa Monica, I am so proud to have this business in my neighborhood. The guys here are incredibly approachable, knowledgeable and helped me pick out the perfect board for my husband’s birthday gift. They went above and beyond in so many ways to make sure that my husband got his board in time for his birthday. Plus, they serve a great latte and fun conversation. Thanks so much, guys!
